Organizer and Co Host

The Ministry of Mines and Energy of Colombia is the national entity responsible for developing and adopting policies aimed at the sustainable use of the mining and energy resources to contribute to the economic and social development of the country.

Colombia is working on the transition from predominantly fossil fuel-based energy systems to those with a greater role, such as renewable energies, while at the same time promoting a move towards a reindustrialised economy less economically and fiscally dependent on fossil fuel imports.

In this way, hydrogen constitutes a fundamental pillar to stimulate energy change, contributing to the construction of a sustainable future and a Just Energy Transition in the country.

The LAC Clean Hydrogen Action Alliance is an initiative born in the framework of the COP 26 that seeks to commit and articulate all the actors involved in low-emission hydrogen in the Latin America and Caribbean region, through concrete goals and actions to position the region globally as a leader in the production and export of clean energy and inputs.

It’s mission is to promote the development of the hydrogen industry and encourage collaboration to materialize the energy transition and decarbonization at a global level.

The International Hydrogen Ramp-up Program (H2Uppp) accompanies and supports markets for green H2/PtX technologies and applications, especially in developing and emerging countries (ODA countries). This are further developed through partnerships with the private sector and the establishment of export-import relationships with Germany and Europe.

H2Uppp is implemented by the German Development Cooperation (GIZ), on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK). In Latin America and the Caribbean, H2Uppp is present in Colombia, Brazil, Uruguay and Chile, countries in which GIZ collaborates closely with the German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (AHKs), as partners in the implementation of the H2Uppp Program.

H2-diplo Program- The H2-diplo – Decarbonization Diplomacy program, financed by the Federal Foreign Office (AA) of Germany and implemented by the German Development Cooperation GIZ, seeks to strengthen Colombia to use green hydrogen and its derivatives to decarbonize and diversify its economy with carbon-neutral value chains. H2-diplo facilitates dialogue and coordination of stakeholders from the public and private sectors, academia, and civil society for the development of policies that enable a low-emission hydrogen economy. The program also contributes to capacity building in different sectors.

Since 2019, the German Development Cooperation GIZ has been developing a series of programs, grouped in the Environment, Climate Change and Sustainable Urban Development Cluster, working together with the public and private sectors through guidance on planning policies and instruments, technical assistance and capacity building.

The Colombian Hydrogen Association promotes the development of hydrogen and its derivatives as an energy vector and industrial input in Colombia. Founded in May 2021, Hidrógeno Colombia brings together companies, non-profit organizations, academic institutions and professionals interested in consolidating the hydrogen economy for the decarbonization of the country.

Represents and leads the World Energy Council in Colombia and lead the energy dialogue at regional and local level.

It’s a specialized forum of leaders, professionals and actors of the energy sector that seek to generate debate, exchange of information, formation of opportunities through strategic alliances and joint work.
